About Me

My photo
Reita Hawthorne
Waco, Texas, United States
I’m Reita Hawthorne, best known as "Apron Pockets". My mother wanted a girl. My father wanted a bird dog. They both won. Like night riders, Texas politics, rode rampant in my hometown. Three doors down, my neighborhood housed a future U.S. president. Downtown, my Dad’s Bible Class was taught by the Governor of Texas and the Secretary of State served as chairman of our deacon body. Me? I spent weeks at Camp Texlake every summer, the Girl Scout Camp on the Perdenales. I caught catfish, raised, lowered and folded Old Glory each day, and practiced barrel racing. I even trapped a skunk. My parents wouldn’t let me bring him home, “Boopsie’s“ parents did. All the boys went to her house to see him! Horses, fly fishing and mountains all go together on my website. Hope you’ll let me set a place at the table for you. Over dinner I’ll share the best of both worlds, from My Apron Pockets.
